Hello All,
I have done my PSM I but I do not have practical experience as a Scrum Master.
Can you please help me to understand the actual work which Scrum Master does?
What does SM do in each Scrum Events?
Who calculates the story points? Is it SM?
Does SM calculates the team capacity and how?
How does SM calculates the ongoing sprint progress?
Please help me with these answers.

Your PSM I certification isn't showing in your profile so you might want to check up.on that. However, as a Scrum.Master you go through your own journey with a team, which is one of backing away. We want teams to self-manage and self-organize. Developers, for example, ought to be able to forecast their own capacity since they are the ones doing the work.

As a Scrum Master you are accountable for the effective implementation of Scrum. There are many stances you adopt at different times, but you are always managing people's understanding of the Scrum Framework.

The list of questions you have all have the same answer...not something the Scrum Master does.  The exception is to your first question.  The Scrum Master is an equal participant in the Sprint Retrospective and can contribute to the discussion of how well the team worked together.  As for the other events, there is nothing that the Scrum Master should do.

The rest of the questions are all things that the Developers would do.  Since they own the Sprint and the work to be done during the Sprint, they should own all of those activities.

@Ian's final comment is perfect!  A Scrum Master is responsible for helping everyone inside and outside of an organization understand the Scrum framework.  If you were able to accomplish a passing score on the PSM exam, you should know that.  And you would also know that story points are not part of the framework.  Also, there is no need to calculate the Sprint's ongoing progress if the Developers are being transparent about their work towards achieving the Sprint Goal. You don't need practical experience to understand the framework but it will help you learn the misconceptions.

Agree with the response from Ian and Daniel.

Removing impediments that block / slow down the team is what the scrum masters focus should be. Identifying the most critical impediment to solve is what is important and again the SM alone may not be able to solve the impediment and will need help from the team and the organization at large.

What does SM do in each Scrum Events?

Depending on the situation, the scrum master would be required to coach the team on the events and also be a facilitator (and even drive these in some cases). But like Ian mentions the ultimate goal should be that the team should self manage and it should not be that the events do not happen if the Scrum master is not around.

Who calculates the story points? Is it SM?

Estimation is done by the entire team. The only role scrum master might do is to educate the team about estimations and different techniques to do so (like planning poker).

Does SM calculates the team capacity and how?

Again this is for the developers to do. You can guide the team on how to go about doing this. Basic way of doing this is to go by the hours people are available and include a focus factor. There are lot of materials on this on the internet which you can go through.

How does SM calculates the ongoing sprint progress?

This is for the entire team to do during the daily scrum (how are we doing with respect to achieving the sprint goal). Most of the tools today have different charts like burndown, burnup etc. to track the progress of the sprint.
