Coaching a self-organizing team
Can anyone give me some coaching examples or situations you may have come across and how did you help that individual? I’m trying to get a better idea on how a scrum master would guide that member of the team to finding their own resolution.
Should that individual be finding their own resolution? Where then is the teamwork and joint ownership of the challenge?
If it is a self-organizing team, why would you be coaching individuals? The focus should be on the team. A self-organizing team would be respectful of others, appreciate everyone's skills while they encourage healthy conflict and discussion. So, why wouldn't the members of the team be able to "coach" each other?
Don't focus on individuals. Coach the entire team together on how they can become or get better at self-organizing. By focusing on an individual, you are going against the entire concept.
