does the product owner write code?

hi,
i'm abit confused about this new term "Product Owner", his responsibility list has (to summarize) business skills, peoples skills, some planning skills, collaborate with dev teams etc. I have these direct questions:
1. Does the product owner write code?
2. Does the product owner replace the old project manager and team lead?

The Product Owner and/or Scrum Master *can* be members of the Development Team, but neither of them *have* to be. Therefore the PO *may* write code to assist in the development of his or her product.

> 2. Does the product owner replace the old project manager and team lead?

The project management function is refactored across all three Scrum roles, and mainly across the Development Team and Product Owner. Team leadership is considered in terms of a "servant leadership" model, the duties of which are vested principally in the Scrum Master.
