Developers shared between multiple Scrum team for a product backlog
We are working in multiple Scrum teams for a single feature based Product Backlog. There is no issue with capacity and knowledge. Each team is capable of delivering releasable software.
Is it better to share developers within Scrum Teams.
- If yes what's the benefit we will get? Will the collaboration between 2 teams increased?
- If no, what will be the disadvantage?
Have you posed this question to the Developers on the Scrum Teams, and facilitated the pros and cons of each? Take it to the developers!
Is it better to share developers within Scrum Teams.
Does each team have its own Sprint Goal commitment and need for focus?
Will the collaboration between 2 teams increased?
Is inter-team collaboration believed to be inadequate right now?
Hi Ian,
Thanks for your response. Please find my answer below.
- Does each team have its own Sprint Goal commitment and need for focus? - Yes. Usually crafted during sprint planning.
- Is inter-team collaboration believed to be inadequate right now? - Yes. To some extent.
Hi Chris,
Thanks for the excellent idea.
Does each team have its own Sprint Goal commitment and need for focus? - Yes. Usually crafted during sprint planning.
If team members were to be shared between teams, what effect do they think that would have on their commitment and focus?
Is inter-team collaboration believed to be inadequate right now? - Yes. To some extent.
How visible is that problem? How clearly does it impact the teams' ability to create a finished and integrated increment, each Sprint, for the joint product they are working on...and what's stopping them from collaborating effectively right now?
Payel - Congratulations on using Sprint Goals, I see a lot of teams who don't for many reasons.
Are you asking that people be shared between two teams during 1 Sprint, say a person 50% on one team and 50% on the other? If so Ian brings up some good questions.
Or would they self-organize into the right team before a Sprint starts?
