A product owner and developer engagement during scrum
How much engagement should a PO have with dev team?Is it only whenever the dev team has necessity or can a PO should involve himself enough so as to know how the dev team progressing towards product goal so that he can have an answer to stakeholders or higher management.
How much involvement would provide the Product Owner with enough information to fulfill his role and duty to the team, stakeholders and organization? My opinion is that there should be continuous communication flowing between all members of the Scrum Team. You mentioned "engagement" and "involve" which could have negative connotations as well as positive. The key point is that there should be enough communication flowing between all parties of the Scrum Team to ensure that everyone knows what is happening, is likely to happen in the future and any new information being discovered. How that communication occurs is up to the teams to decide. That is where the "engagement" and "involve" comes into play. As long as there is no failing of the responsibilities everyone has to each other, the respect that no one will intentionally do harm is present, and the ability to transparently radiate information to all interested parties I don't think is a need to question "how much".
How much engagement should a PO have with dev team?
The only team in Scrum is the Scrum Team. There ought to be a one-team ethos within which all members are fully engaged.
