When our team grows bigger (up to 10), the tasks breakdown takes a lot of time. To improve the velocity hitting the target, we are trying out another approach that team members are paired to be focused on an epic. For example, A+B are paired to work on epic 1, C+D are on epic 2. Then the task breakdown is within the pair only. It seems more efficient and faster. But there are some concerns that this is more like a short-term stimulant. Any guys here adopted similar approach before. I would love to know the long term impact.

What is the impact of this practice likely to be on joint team focus, and on the team's sense of commitment?

What would the team suggest to handle the increased planning time and to remain effective at producing value?
