Scrum Master is a "management" position?
From your reading of the Scrum Guide, is there anything that a Scrum Master might be said to manage?
No. The Scrum Guide doesn´t mention clearly anything about Scrum Master been in a management position. Once I read that :
"The Scrum Master manages the Scrum process. If the Scrum Master is not a management position, he or she may not have the influence to remove impediments. The Scrum Master does not manage the team."
But I'm not sure of the source of this information.
The quote you state is a good assessment of a Scrum Master's management responsibilities.
The relevant part of the Scrum Guide is:
"The Scrum Master is responsible for ensuring Scrum is understood and enacted. Scrum Masters do this by ensuring that the Scrum Team adheres to Scrum theory, practices, and rules."
It's that responsibility for the team's understanding and implementation of Scrum which makes a Scrum Master a "manager".
