Decision Rules: Delegation
Delegating a decision means entrusting the responsibility for making a particular decision to someone else, often someone who is more qualified or knowledgeable in that area. The Product Owner for example is accountable for effective Product Backlog management but can also decide to delegate some of the work to others. Another example is when leadership values the expertise in the team and trusts them to make their own decisions with regards to the product and the way they work.
When to Use the Delegation Rule?
Decisions are best delegated if there are others who are more qualified to decide or where input of the person accountable is not needed.

Scrum Teams need to make decisions all the time. Helping teams reach a decision effectively, and gaining necessary buy-in from all team members can be challenging, especially when team members are unclear on who has the final say in making it. Understanding the decision rule, how a decision is made and whose input is required, is necessary because ambiguity in the decision process causes confusion and frustration.
