Build and maintain stakeholder relationships
A Product Owner represents and is the voice of all stakeholders. This includes deciding what next items of value the Scrum Team should work on next. Having a sole representative helps to overcome a lack of stakeholder consensus and ensures decisions are not slowed down.
Keep in mind that while the Product Owner is the ultimate decision maker, they should leverage the knowledge and expertise of those around them so they can make well informed decisions. For this they need to build strong relationships with their stakeholders based on trust and openness and also encourage collaborative relationships between the Scrum Team and the stakeholders. The Sprint Review is a great opportunity to do that. During the Sprint Review, the Scrum Team and stakeholders come together to inspect progress toward the Product Goal, and discuss market trends and challenges the team is facing. This type of collaborative discussion helps build a foundation of transparency and trust between the Scrum Team and stakeholders.
