The Scrum Guide (ed. 2020 PDF version) states it is “The Definitive Guide to Scrum: The Rules of the Game”...
Scrum is a game! 🎯
Components of a game typically are goals, rules, challenges and interaction.
Games develop practical skills.
Games involve a lot of decision-making.
They have a form of a feedback system.
And participation is (normally) voluntary (unless you are a dad or mom with kids... 😇 )
So, when it comes to your game of Scrum...
What are your goals?
Challenges you and your team are facing?
How are the interactions working out?
Which skills do you want to raise?
How is your decision-making process looking?
Is the feedback-system providing up-to-date and real-time information?
How do people join or leave the team?
In games, sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. Yet always you learn more about the rules of the game; how you can apply better strategies to reach the goal while adhering to the rules.
And of course a game is expected to be fun, shouldn’t it!
