Professional Scrum Master
Live Virtual Class, May 22-23, 2025
Class Overview
As a Scrum Master, you have numerous responsibilities and must adopt various stances depending on the situation to ensure success.
The Scrum Master is responsible for embedding Scrum as defined in the Scrum Guide. This involves helping everyone in understanding Scrum theory and practice, both within the Scrum Team and the broader organization. Furthermore, the Scrum Master is accountable for the Scrum Team’s effectiveness, enabling the team to improve their practices within the Scrum framework.
Scrum Masters are true leaders who support the Scrum Team and the organization in multiple capacities. One of the courses we offer to enhance your effectiveness as a Scrum Master and to better support your team and organization is the Professional Scrum Master™ course. This course provides you with a solid understanding of Professional Scrum, an agile mindset, and the responsibilities of the Scrum Master. The course combines instructor-led sessions with interactive, team-based activities, allowing you to collaborate with fellow students.
The Professional Scrum Trainer (PST) brings his own experience and stories as a Scrum Master to the class, leveraging his skills as a professional trainer to deliver the content in a unique and engaging way. The result is an interactive and enjoyable learning experience where you will gain a deep understanding of Scrum theory and principles, the responsibilities of the Scrum Master, and the importance of each element of the Scrum framework. The course spans two days and includes a attempt at the globally recognized Professional Scrum Master I certification exam (PSM I).

Throughout the course, students are challenged to think in terms of the Scrum principles to better understand what to do when returning to the workplace.
The PSM course is much more than just a set of slides and an instructor. In this course, students work on real-life cases with other classmates together as a team. This course is made up of discussions and hands-on exercises based upon real-life cases.

The trainer - Michel van der Meulen
Organizations hire me to help them find better ways of working that enhance business agility and increase the delivery of business value.
Before becoming a Scrum Master, I worked as a software engineer for over fifteen years, followed by more than ten years as a business analyst. During these years, I realized that we can't predict the future. We can make plans and hope that things will go as expected, but often they don't. Therefore, when making a plan, it's important to consider that everything can change and that a Sense and Respond approach is more effective and actually a natural way of working.
It is my passion to help people and organizations (re)learn this natural way of working. I achieve this by coaching people on the job and, as a Professional Scrum Trainer (PST) at Scrum.org, by teaching (aspiring) Scrum Masters how they can help others rediscover this natural way of working.
