External Negotiation

Depending on the product and business area, Product Owners might be exposed to external negotiations, such as external investors, strategic partnerships, and/or vendor relationships.

The negotiation strategies described in the internal stakeholder section can also be applied when negotiating externally.

Product Owners should build relationships to develop an atmosphere of collaboration and transparency with external parties to make negotiations more effective. In addition, expect to make trade-offs. When that is the case, a Product Owner should keep customer value in the forefront of their decisions.
