MPlaza test - Scrum Master role
Hi all,
I have a doubt with a question from MPlaza mock exam.
If you are interested in this mocked tests, you shouldn't keep reading...
The question:
Which two of the following are true about the Scrum Master role?
The answers:
* Helps those outside the team interact with the Scrum Team
* It’s a management position
* Assigns tasks to the developers
* Is responsible for updating the burn-down chart
* Identifies what has been done prior to the Sprint Review meeting
The correct answers are:
* Helps those outside the team interact with the Scrum Team
* It’s a management position
Explanation
The Scrum Master does not manage people, but, manages the process. That’s why it’s considered a management role by Scrum.org.
The role can be part-time.
The Development Team is self-organized; it’s the developers responsibility to handle the assignments and measures the performance of the Sprints.
It is the Product Owner’s responsibility to identify what has been done before the Sprint Review.
Do you also think a Scrum Master can have a management position?
Thanks in advance.
Hey David -
There was and probably still is a question about the Scrum Master being a management position in the open assessment (check the link below).
http://www.scrum.org/Forums/aft/1071
In Scrum each role manages something:
- The Scrum Master manages (the adoption of) the Scrum framework.
- The Product Owner manages the Product Backlog.
- The Development Team manages their own work.
My understanding is that although a Scrum Master doesn't need to have formal management experience or title his role can be considered a management position.
Hi,
I did the open assessment several times and I have not found that question. I've reviewed my results.
But I could find in some feedback in some question of that assessment that Scrum Master manages the process.
The thread you give me was very clarifier.
Thank you very much.
Just realized Gunther Verheyen wrote an article on this topic.
