PSM vs PSPO: which one?
Hello everybody,
I would like to take a Scrum certification and it is not clear to me what is the actual industry value difference between the PSM and the PSPO - starting also from the level 1.
To me, it is clear the respective roles of the Scrum Master and of the Product Owner, but I wonder how different as these two certifications? Which perceived different value has the industry (in Europe/Germany, particularly)? I.e., if I have PSM I, would it be clear that I am also given a Product Owner role? And for the second level?
What is the actual overlapping between these certifications?
Thanks in advance!
Dan
I'm not sure about the differences between PSM and PSPO. I have to take the PSPO assessment. However, I prefer (and also see that in my company) that people with profound Scrum knowledge can take a PO role. And either certification tells that there is at least basic knowledge present, but both certifications do not necessarilly mean that people holding (one of) those certifications are good Product Owners!
People without certifications can make good PO's also.
So, having PSM I would not make you a PO, equally so for the PSM II.
PSM 1 vs PSPO 1
if you are new in scrum... go for PSM 1
After that you need 20% more effort fr PSPO 1.
So basically PSPO 1=PSM 1+ 20% more PO knowledge .
As scrum treats everything as a product, we need both the roles for effective delivery.
But scrum master being the key scrum facilitator is more aligned with scrum principles.
