How can I prepare for PSPO II with self-training
Hello everyone,
I want to pass the PSPO II certification without training and if you can share with me your learning path and experiences on this certification
I had without training, the following certifications: PSM I, PSPO I, PAL I and SPS. Also, i have had an experience in agile and lean environment.
Thank you for your help
Hi Adnane,
It's great that you are looking to do the PSPO II, I pursued it not long ago myself. I'd be interested in your reasoning about why you specifically want to avoid training, as the PST are awesome and really know their stuff. The investment in cost may seem high, but the knowledge you gain form them and security in getting two attempts (if you need them) pays for itself, in my opinion!
I prepped for the exam by spending time talking to the POs I work with and studying the PPO green book by Don and Ralph - it really is as awesome as the reviews it gets, and so I'd advise you start here. Similarly there are some great blog on this site (I'd particularly call out https://www.scrum.org/resources/blog/10-tips-product-owners-agile-produ…) and also the Product Owner Learning Path (https://www.scrum.org/pathway/product-owner-learning-path) is really good too.
I hope this helps a bit.
Hi Rayn,
Thank you for your answer.
I do not avoid the training but I think that I have the elements (experience, knowledge, etc.) which allow me to prepare for the PSPO II certification in self-training.
do you have any advice to suggest to me?
Thanks
Hello,
since I have the same goal of passing PSPO II, I do face a similar dilemma. There are a number of books, articles and blogs out there to self-study but I more often thought about the possibility of taking the PSPO-Advanced class to learn more.
The thing is that right now only virtual classes are available and I for one hesitate to invest like 1500 Euro for a two day remote course.
If someone has exprience with this course, I would be happy to hear the insight so it might help me to decide whether to invest or dedicate to self-study.
Thanks for the help:-)
I can't personally speak about the PSPO-A course but I did attend the PSM II one and it was well worth the money. There are insights that the PSTs have that can't be replicated by reading books or blogs (in my opinion).
Having said that, hopefully some of the resources I referenced above can be of use. Taking a look at the EBM guide, The Professional Product Owner book and some blogs is a strong place to start - and I hope it goes without saying, but some strong experience in a Scrum environment is a must.
Personally I found it harder that the PSM II, but I found PSPO III easier than PSM III.
My prep for PSPO II focused on my weakest topics of metrics, release planning and validating value/hypotheses.
Good luck on your journeys :).
