How to contribute to Scrum.org formal translations to other languages?
At first glance, I always look for technical information in English once usually the background of many areas of knowledge comes in English. I started using this approach when I took my Master. In the agile field, it is the same.
I am not an English native speaker. I am from Brazil. So, ultimately I am researching for knowledge in Agile at scale so that I was reading the Nexus Guide in Portuguese too, just for curiosity, after all, it is my mother language.
So, I have found some parts of the Guide where the Portuguese is not very clear. It appears, in some situations, such as “a literal translation”. It sounds like an attempt to bring the Portuguese closer to English language, to maintain reliability. However, the languages are not close each other.
I mean, in some parts, what I read in English is not what I read in Portuguese.
There are the use of some verbs and expressions that are not common for the Portuguese spoken in Brazil. In my opinion, some items should have been translated in a different way.
How can I be part of the team for helping these translations?
Hi Olavo,
You can contact the translators of the Portuguese version to collaborate with them on improving the translation. You'll find their contact details here: https://scrumguides.org/download.html
Best,
Jo
Thanks, Jo!
I hope that they are able to answer me, too.
I am sure the translation to Brazilian Portuguese should be inspected and adapted!
;)
