Scrum resources /please advise
Hello,
I am absolute new to Scrum and Agile. Our company is transform all processess from waterfall to scrum. And I want to become the Scrum Master in future. I guess it will be more better for me to pass any of Scrum certification. So I choose between CSM and PSM. PSM is more attractive for me. So, to pass I read this forum and collect some links with materials which help me to pass PSM (or maybe CSM):
1 - Scrum Guide - it is necessary as I think;
2 - I have some another certifications and best tool for me is to practice mock tests. So, I guess I will use volkerdon.com to prepare;
3 - I found that one the most popular user at this site has his own site where there are many interesting articles;
Kindly ask you to advice me something else.
Hi Alex,
As I think to read Scrum Guide, take some practice tests at Volkerdon and read good materials from Ian Mitchell's site is enough to prepare for PSM 1 or even PSPO 1.
Personally, I've used almost the same materials to prepare for both certifications.
My personal advice:
1 - Read and what is more important understand Scrum Guide
2 - Practice more mock tests. This really helped me.
The Scrum Guide is 'the' definition for correct understanding and application of Scrum. There are dubious books/articles such as Scrum Body of Knowledge etc. Keep away from them.
But the Scrum Guide is short and to the point so you won't really 'appreciate' the larger meaning behind the definition.
I would recommend couple of books to understand Scrum in sufficient detail for ground level application:
1. Scrum Narrative and PSM Exam Guide - The best book I have come across on Scrum. Does not dilute the original definition.
2. Scrum and XP from the trenches - A book explaining the application of Scrum with additional details of how other practices add value to Scrum.
Remily, Orkhan, my pleasure. Many thanks for your links and text.
