Professional Scrum Master
Live Virtual Class, March 8-9, 2021
Class Overview
Learn Scrum from the co-author of the book Mastering Professional Scrum.
Stephanie is also a Steward of the Professional Scrum Master (PSM) Curriculum. She works with the trainer community and Ken Schwaber to continuously evolve the courseware.
In addition, Stephanie works with Scrum.org to teach, assess, and mentor PSM trainer candidates.
The Professional Scrum Master (PSM) course is a 2-day course that covers the principles and empirical process theory underpinning the mechanics, rules and roles of the Scrum framework.
Advanced tools for servant-leadership are provided to increase a Scrum Master’s effectiveness. These tools relate to behavioral shifts, working with people and teams, coaching and facilitation techniques, and addressing the organization.
Students learn through instruction and team-based exercises, and are challenged to think in terms of the Scrum principles to better understand what to do when returning to the workplace.
Professional Scrum Master is THE cutting-edge course for effective Scrum Masters and anyone supporting a software development team’s efficiency and effectiveness.
Scrum.org selects only the most qualified instructors to deliver this course. Each instructor lends his or her individual experience and expertise to the course, but all students learn the same core content. This improves their ability to pass the Professional Scrum Master assessments and use Scrum in the workplace.

The Professional Scrum Master course is targeted to Scrum Masters and anyone else responsible for the successful use and/or rollout of Scrum.
Assessment and Certification
Unlike other Scrum certifications that require only class attendance, Scrum.org certification requires a minimum score of 85% on a rigorous assessment. The Professional Scrum Master course has two associated assessments and certification: Professional Scrum Master level I (PSM I) and Professional Scrum Master level II (PSM II). All participants completing the Professional Scrum Master course receive one free attempt at the PSM I assessment and are entitled to a 40% discount on the PSM II assessment.
If you pass the PSM I or PSM II assessment, you will receive the industry-recognized certification, and your name will be posted on the Scrum.org website.
Course Outline
Scrum Theory – Establish a solid foundation of what Scrum is based on and why. Understanding the principles is essential for guiding team decisions in effective use of Scrum.
Scrum Framework – Level-set on what Scrum is, specifically all Events, Artifacts, and Roles and the rules that bind them together. This is often when a lot of a-ha moments happen as students realize where their team’s may have misunderstandings or opportunities to level-up with their intentional use of Scrum.
The Secret to Scrum Success – Hint: It’s getting to Done every Sprint. We will dive deep into why this matters and the impacts of not being Done.
Product Delivery with Scrum – Planning with agility using the Scrum framework and an introduction to some complementary practices.
People and Teams – People and their interactions as part of teams are essential to Scrum’s success. In this section, we look at team formation, self-organization, effective collaboration, and more.
The Scrum Master – The entire course builds up to this section. Here we tie the previous learnings together and explore the responsibilities, skills, and traits of a Scrum Master (or anyone looking to demonstrate servant-leadership).
