More Information

The 2-day Professional Scrum with Kanban (PSK) course teaches Scrum practitioners how to apply Professional Kanban practices to their work. Through theory, case studies, and hands-on exercises, participants will understand the importance of transparency and flow as it pertains to the Scrum framework.

The Scrum.org mission is to Improve the Profession of Software Delivery

Scrum is the defacto standard for how Agile teams work. Scrum exists only in its entirety and functions well as a container for other techniques, methodologies and practices. Scrum Teams keep improving how they work, based on what they learn by inspecting and adapting on an ongoing basis.

Learn Scrum from those that created and maintain it and Kanban from those that developed the Kanban Method

In this class, students will learn how Scrum Teams can introduce additional practices from Kanban while continuing the way they are already working today with Scrum, all without changing Scrum.
Scrum.org and our Professional Scrum Trainers have worked with Daniel Vacanti in the creation of this course. In 2007 Daniel helped to develop the Kanban Method for knowledge work. He managed the world’s first project implementation of Kanban that year, and has been conducting Kanban training, coaching, and consulting ever since.

This course is for you if…

The Professional Scrum with Kanban course is for anyone doing Scrum. It is particularly beneficial for those people within an organization who use Scrum to deliver products to market including Product Owners, Development Team Members and Scrum Masters.

Before coming to the course

Before you take this course you should have a solid understanding of Professional Scrum. Preferably you should have already taken a Scrum class, we recommend Certified Professional Scrum Foundations Training and have passed at least one of the Professional Scrum assessments from Scrum.org

Assessment and certification

All participants completing the Professional Scrum with Kanban course will receive a password to attempt the PSK assessment. The industry-recognized PSK certification requires a minimum passing score on this rigorous assessment.

Format

As with all of the Professional Scrum series this is an interactive class that spends more time in Workshops and Discussion than it does in lecture. Students work in teams to learn how to implement Professional Kanban within the context of Professional Scrum with regular class updates.

Public transport

5 minutes walk from
Waverley Train Station

  • Leave Waverley Station (Market Street Exit) by the steps to Market Street (or by the main pedestrian exit to Waverley Bridge, turning left then left again into Market Street). Continue along Market Street, going under the large decorated bridge.
  • After the bridge, bear right into Jeffrey Street, up the hill past Jury’s Hotel to the junction (traffic lights) with the High Street.

Arriving by air - Edinburgh Airport

Outside the main airport terminal you will find:

  • A rank for airport taxis,
  • An airport bus stop, which drops you off at Waverley Bridge, right opposite the main entrance to Waverley Train Station,
  • A tram stop, which brings you into the centre of town, just a short walk to the Venue.

Arriving by tram

If you are taking the tram from any stop in Edinburgh or the Airport, please ensure you buy your ticket before boarding the tram, or you will be fined £10. There are two stops near the Venue:

  • St Andrew Square: Head down the hill towards Princes Street, where you will see Waverley Train Station and can follow the walking directions from there.
  • Princes Street: Walk past the National Gallery, which is across the road, towards Waverley Train Station, from where you can follow the walking directions.

Arriving by taxi

You can pick up a black taxi by visiting one of the many ranks located in Edinburgh, hail one in the street or order one by phone.

We would advise you to give clear instructions to the taxi driver and specify that the venue is situated on St Mary’s Street. That way, you won’t run the risk of ending up at one of the other conferencing venues in Edinburgh (as has unfortunately happened to some of our previous delegates).

Central Taxis: 0131 229 2468

Our address is in Central Taxi‘s booking database. By choosing them, you can be sure you will be heading straight here. If you require a pick up from the Venue, we are always happy to book one for you, just pop into reception.

Parking

If you are arriving by car, there are three multi-storey car parks just a few minutes walk from Edinburgh Training and Conference Venue.
We have a concessionary rate at the St John’s Hill, EH8 9UL, NCP car park.
To get your 10% discount you just need to get your parking ticket validated by our receptionist.
