I recently cleared PSM-I and now preparing for PSM-II. The website does mentions that PSM-II exam format consists of essay type questions too. I was wondering if someone could help with few sample questions of essay kind. This would really help me in preparation.

Hello Pankaj,

Please kindly note that we do not allow the posting of actual, Scrum.org Professional-level assessment question and answer content on our Forums. However, we would be happy to help in assisting your preparation by providing you with a sample PSM II question, along with some sample answers and notes. We hope you'll find this helpful and wish you the best of luck in your continued journey with Scrum!

Here is a sample PSM II question:

One of the Scrum events is the Sprint Review. How does the Sprint Review enable empiricism? What would the impact be if some members of the development team were not present?

Bad Answer:

The Sprint Review enables empiricism, because people talk about what was done during the Sprint.

Why this is a bad answer:

It does not address the second part of the question, and does not explain how the Sprint Review enables empiricism. It only vaguely describes what is done during the Sprint Review, which should be considered common knowledge for this higher level assessment.

Good Answer:

The Sprint Review enables empiricism by proving an opportunity for the Scrum Team and the interested stakeholders to inspect the increment and adapt the backlog. The Sprint Review supports transparency, because everyone can see what has been produced.

If only part of development team was present, there would be less transparency. The development team members who were not present lose the opportunity to directly hear the feedback provided during the review. Directly hearing from stakeholders increases their understanding of what the stakeholders want.

Why this is a good answer:

It answers both of the points being raised in the question. It doesn’t include a lot of unnecessary supporting information like describing what a Sprint Review is.

Thanks.

Hello,

Unfortunately I wasn't able go for PSM-II due to some other priorities. I am planning to finish it by this year.

Good luck with that !

Hi Pankaj Dhande,

take into account that the structure of the SM path has recently changed. As @Srinivasulu has pointed out, now only the PSM III exam has open question (at least as I know). Anyway, any interesting material to prepare the exams are always welcome.

Good luck!

The new PSM III is the former PSM II (=> essay questions + multiple choice) and the new PSM II is the former PSP (=> only multiple choice questions)

Thank You for the information. I just completed my PSM 1. Planning for PSM II soon.

I am not able to confirm the above information on PSM-II & PSM-III from any of the reliable source (google it)

PSM-II have only multiple choice questions (it is not simple as PSM-I)

PSM-III have both essay questions + multiple choice.

I am planning to finish PSM II before Aug 2017

Thanks

Balachander, the structure of the PSM II and PSM III exams changed about a year ago, on July 26, 2016.  You can read more about the change here.  Any posts or blogs discussing the PSM II should have their time stamp examined carefully, to ensure you're getting relevant information.

Hi,

Is there any open assessment option for PSM II? I want to attempt PSM II and would like to have tips and guidance on how to prepare for it.

10:05 pm December 4, 2017

There is currently no open assessment option for the PSM II exam.   Take to heart all advice and reading suggestions before you think of taking the PSM II exam.

@Samrat: note that this post originated from four years ago (exactly to the day, by the way :) )

This question appears a lot on the forum and the search function should help you greatly. The fact that you consider it a journey towards speaks volumes about your intentions. I would suggest searching some more and considering following the instructions from the PSM 2 learning path.

And if you have more questions, I would strongly suggest starting a new post with a more specific question, and not confuse yourself and others by resurrecting such an old one :)

Good luck!
