Looking for advice, what's best for us!

Hey all,

Just looking for some advice or pointers on how you feel we'd be best operating.

So we're a digital agency based in the UK our dev time is currently under immense pressure with the amount of work we have, deadlines, tickets and jobs that appear on the schedule.

At present, our project managers/client services team manage our schedule on a weekly basis and we have standups each morning where we run through what we have on for the day, if any job/ticket didn't get completed it's carried across to the next day.

I don't think a fully agile setup will work for us as our weeks are not currently structured and sometimes urgent tickets come in day to day which needs to be looked at ASAP, we'd like to work in sprints but again, don't think it'll work for us.

Is there anyone else that has the same problem?

Might that start to change if you had a fully empowered Product Owner who is able to organize work into a Product Backlog (your plan if you will), made that plan transparent, and was able to say 'no' to any major changes once a 1 week Sprint started? And during each week-long Sprint you collaborated with stakeholders in a Sprint Review on what to do next Sprint?

Is there anyone else that has the same problem?

You've got project managers who are trying to drive things by schedule instead of a team who self-manage for value. Manager-led work is a problem where the domain is complex and ingenuity and empiricism are needed. Do management recognize this problem at all, and is there an urgent desire to fix it?

Have you looked at Kanban? I think that Kanban could solve some of the issues that you are mentioning, if implemented right. I know that it is not scrum but at least have a look at it.
