Getting hands on, practical experience

A year ago I decided I wanted a change of career and studied for and passed the PSM1 certification. Things didn't pick up that quickly but now I'd like to continue studying and take this further with the certifications on Srum.org.

My question is, does anyone have any idea how I can get practical experience as a Scrum Master or Product Owner in the real world? Maybe even by volunteering/ work experience? I'm currently with a Global corporate enterprise but will be taking redundancy, so I have some time to offer.

Take an empirical approach and in the real world you will be unable to avoid it.
 

Start with the situation you are in right now, no matter how broken it is, and think about how you might demonstrate Scrum accountabilities even if doing so will be unrecognized. You can then talk about the challenges and how you overcame them on your resume.
 

Role fulfilment does get any easier or clearer just because a position sports the SM or PO title.

Scrum capabilities are all around us, we just don't recognize it and on experimentation  and observation and rather planning.
