Especially the Professional Product Owner book is awesome. Product Mastery by Geoff Watts is a great book for prep, too.

- How beneficial is PSPO II over PSPO I?

Likewise to PSMIII to PSMI. It really distinguishes your knowledge from PSPOI.

PSM III and PSPO II require real-world experience, not just a class room.  These tests truly test your abilities to use Scrum or be a Product Owner, dealing with real situations and things that go well beyond the classroom.  

As Sander wrote, they show and prove your knowledge to help you, they also show you where you need greater practice.  There is the Professional Scrum Product Owner book here and soon a Professional Scrum Master book here which are also quite helpful.

So, I have been a product owner for more than 5 years now.. I have a PSM I, a PSPO I, a PAL...My aim in life is to achieve success at being able to manage products successfully.

@Vaibhav Sabharwal, In order to achieve success, a certification is not necessary. The PSPO II however, may help you validate your knowledge and understanding. It will give you the recognition and distinction that comes with it.
